Two identical blocks are attached by a masslessstring running over a pulley as shown. The rope initiallyruns over the pulley at its midpoint, and the surface that block 1rests on is frictionless. Blocks 1 and 2 are initially atrest when block 2 is released with the string taught andhorizontal. Will block 1 hit the pulley before or after block2 hits the wall? Why?

      Block 1 hit the pulley after block 2 hits the wall.Because before the Block 2 hits the wall the tension in the stringis less than mg.

      I'm not sure about this:
          The horizontal acceleration of block 1 isT/M so it travels horizontal distance L
                   
                 L = 1/2 (T/M) *  t1^2
          The horizontal acceleration of block 2 isT*sin(theta) / M and block 2 has to travel
           distance L * sin(theta) so
                Lsin(theta) = 1/2 T * sin(theta) / M) * t2^2 or for block 2

                L = 1/2(T/M) * t2^2   the same as for block 1
