According to Newton's first law "Every object continues instay of rest or in uniform motion unless an external force actingon it".
So here the object stays in the rest position at any time sothere is no external force acting on it. or
If two equal and opposite forces acting on a bodysimulataneously then the resultant or net force acting on the bodyis zero. Due to the result of net force zero the body stays in therest position.
Here in the problem the body is in the rest position so thereis no net force acting on the body.
